The choice of the products of a product line is critical for the organizations, because the market is competitive and requires products variety, factor that can have negative consequences, such as: increase of costs, complexity and time-to-market, causing decrease of benefits with the product line (Jiao et. al, 2005). Therefore, in this choice is important to consider a set of products adequate with the objectives of the organization and with the needs of a group specific of clients or market segment. In addition, as cited in (Almeida, 2007), the products can be identified according to the scenario, as in cases where: 1. the organization has similar products, but that are developed as unique products. In this scenario, the products of the line can be based in these existents products; 2. the product line is started from the scratch. In this scenario, the products identified can be potential products i.e., products for which no have a set of features determinated yet, but these products are seen as relevant. |
